New Field Station Architectural Models and Site Plans, 5000 and 7800 sq-ft
There are two final plans that were designed for the new field station. one of them is a 7800 square ft. building and the other is a 5000 square ft. building. These buildings are designed with energy efficiency in mind and source local and recycled materials where possible. Some examples of proposed materials are:
-
Photovoltaic (PV) pannels to make use of the solar gain on the southern exposures.
-
Aluminum pannel siding for a portion of the building to provide a thermal and moisture barrier.
-
Travertine rock that is sourced locally to protect the base of the building from heavy snow fall
-
Climate control system that controls the windows to take advantage of warm days/cool nights
-
Rustic siding to match the surrounding area
